Newborn Session FAQ | Pismo Beach, Ca | Newborn Photography

How far in advance should I book my newborn session?

It's never too early to book your session. Typically it is best to book during pregnancy as I do book up months in advance.

My baby is already here, can we still book a newborn session?

Occasionally I do have last minute availability. Please inquire to see if there is an opening.

What if my baby comes before or after my due date?

When you book your session, by paying the session retainer/deposit, your due date takes priority on my schedule. My newborn sessions are limited each month to accommodate various due dates. It is important for you or a family member to contact me once baby is born.

What should I bring to the session?

Once you have booked your session, and we have a set date (after baby is born) you will receive a session prep guide. This will let you know all of the details on how to prepare the day of your session. I do provide all props, swaddles, headbands, and outfits, so what you bring is very minimal. Such as a pacifier, diapers, wipes, and milk supply.

At what age is best to take the photos?

I prefer to photograph babies between 5 and 10 days old. While they are still super sleepy and squishy and before the baby acne sets in. We can definitely still book if your baby is older than 10 days, but the ultimate time is before 10 days to achieve the photos you see on my website and social media.

Do you have a studio?

I have a beautiful, professional studio located on Grand Ave. in Grover Beach. It is deep cleaned with non toxic cleaners before each session, and after. It is cozy enough to where you can sit back and relax, enjoy some snacks I provide, and let me work my magic.

Can my other children be in some photos?

Yes! All of my sessions include siblings and parent poses.

How long does the session take?

I offer two types of Newborn sessions. The Newborn Experience is a full session, that can last up to three hours. The Swaddle Session is considered a mini session, where it is done in under 90 minutes.

What is the difference from a Swaddle Session and The Newborn Experience?

The Newborn Experience includes professional hair and makeup, 25 custom birth announcements. The session itself is poses of the baby with props, posed in outfits and/or nakey. And swaddled. This session is $300 to book, and then $200 the day of the session and it inlcudes 6 digital images.

The Swaddle Session is a mini session. I will have 3 different ups. The baby will stay swaddled for the duration of the session. This is what allows us to cruise right through in a short about of time.

How long after the session do I have to wait to see my photos?

Newborn sessions take 2 weeks for me to edit. Your images will be uploaded into a private online gallery. You will be emailed a link with instructions on how to select the images you want to purchase. Once you have made your selection, you will have access to download the purchased images.

Have you had training for newborn photography?

Yes, I have invested in education and training for the past three years. I believe that this is an on going investment and I will always continue to stay on top of the training. I believe that safety is a top priority and I take it very seriously. I have learned from some of the top newborn photographers both in person and online.
